Hotel & Spa Tech Live Review

Considerate Hoteliers were proud to partner with Hotel & Spa Tech Live again this year, which took place alongside several other hospitality shows.

It was great to be part of this two-day event at London Excel last week. We had a stand at the show, and were also part of a panel discussion on ‘High Tech Hotels: Streamlining your operations’.

There was a wide range of suppliers and discussions at the event, covering a whole host of subjects relating to every aspect of the hospitality industry.

From our perspective, it was fantastic to see how sustainability awareness is developing within the industry, and how this is being developed with technology. A number of companies appear to be now integrating sustainability in to their business models, and while there is always more work to be done, this was really inspiring to see. There was a range of panel sessions with a sustainability focus, with several topics of interest: combining sustainability with efficiency; sustainable packaging in the takeaway arena; how a circular economy can improve business performance; and the importance of good waste management.

There were also a good selection of suppliers present offering sustainable solutions – re-usable bamboo straws, environmentally friendly FOG (fats, oils & grease) disposal and an impressive selection of eco-friendly takeaway packaging were all on display, to name but a few.

The show itself had a more sustainable focus this year, with partnerships with eco-friendly organisations such as the Green Earth Appeal, who have promised to plant one tree for each exhibitor at the event, counterbalancing their carbon footprint. In their quest to reduce food wastage, the show also joined forces with Too Good To Go, a revolutionary app that has already helped hotels, restaurants and food stores “save” over 2.5 million meals from going to waste. Their partnership with the Soil Association encourages the setup of organic and ecological principles in the way people farm and eat.

We look forward to seeing how the event develops further in 2019 – set for 26 & 27 November next year!
