Female Leadership Drives Sustainable Hospitality

On International Women’s Day #IWD2018, Considerate Hoteliers is celebrating that its female leadership team  is the driving force behind sustainability and responsible business practices within the hospitality industry around the world.

Growth in the sector means that the hospitality industry will further increase its negative environmental impact, if it does not start to measure and reduce its carbon emissions. In response to this challenge – since launching Considerate Hoteliers as a Limited Company – joint managing partners Benedetta Cassinelli and Xenia zu Hohenlohe have gone on to develop both turn-key and niche solutions that drive responsible business practices within the hospitality industry.

Xenia will be  a spotlight speaker at the Global Female Leaders event in Germany from 3-5 June 2018

Considerate Hoteliers services and solutions include the Con-Serve™ sustainability data management system supported by innovative sub-metering concepts; bespoke advisory services and workshops; and practical support with specific corporate environmental reporting requirements such as CDP carbon and GRI reporting.

Benedetta and Xenia lead an in-house specialist team comprising sustainability analysts, engineers and hospitality experts with a wealth of industry knowledge and experience in operational as well as functional departments at property, group and corporate level. The work Considerate Hoteliers undertakes for its clients aligns to the framework of the UN’s Global Goals for Sustainable Development (SDGs) and the objectives set in The Paris Agreement at COP21.

Considerate Hoteliers client portfolio features many of London’s iconic hotels; boutique and luxury hospitality brands; independent hotel groups across the UK and Europe; and destinations such as the Island of Mustique

Christiana Figueres, the former Executive Secretary of the United Nations has said that avoiding dangerous levels of climate change is still just about possible, but will require unprecedented effort and coordination from governments, businesses, citizens and scientists in the next three years. With the average carbon emissions of a one-night stay in a UK hotel room being 31.1kg (offsetting this requires planting a tree and letting it grow for eight years), shows that the hospitality industry has a crucial role to play in mitigating climate change.

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
