The Great British Spring Clean is a campaign with a simple aim: to bring people across the country together to clear up the litter that blights our towns, villages, countryside and beaches.
Keep Britain Tidy wants to inspire 400,000 people to get outdoors, get active and help clear up the rubbish that lies around us. Why not get a team together in your hospitality business and join the growing army of #LitterHeroes who have had enough of other people’s litter and are willing to do something about it.
New to the Great British Spring Clean? Here’s the campaign’s step-by-step guide which shows you how to register and get involved in the nation’s biggest tidy-up.
1. Register for #GBSpringClean
First things first, you’ll need to complete the registration form to create your account – it only takes a minute. This gives you access to your own personal ‘Dashboard’ where you can organise and pin your tidy-up events on the map.
2. Read the official #GBSPRINGCLEAN handy guide
This includes everything you need to know to prepare for your tidy-up, including any equipment you’ll need and where you can find it. It also contains very important health and safety information and lots of helpful tips.
3. Add your event to the campaign map
After logging in, head to your ‘Dashboard’ (visible in the main menu bar once you’ve logged in) and scroll down to ‘add an event’ in the Great British Spring Clean section. Fill in the simple form and your event details will appear as a pin on the map so others can join you (or you can keep your event private if you’d prefer). Remember to please complete the form carefully as you cannot edit your event once it goes live.
Don’t forget to head back to the ‘Dashboard’ after your event to ‘add your results’ (number of bags collected and volunteers participating). By feeding back how much you’ve collected and how many got involved, shows the world how much people care about stopping litter, supports other campaigns to end litter and celebrates your successes.
4. Download the free resources
We’ve created a range of downloadable campaign resources, from posters to social media banners and cover photos. You can use them to promote your Great British Spring Clean events or show your support online.
Due to the recent weather conditions, the campaign has been extended and will include all events up to and including 25 March, 2018.
