The fourth Langenburg Forum is entitled “Transforming Megacities – How Digitisation Can Help Create Sustainable Living Environments for Nine Billion People“. This year’s Langenburg Forum will take place on 8-9. June, 2017, in Langenburg, Germany. It will bring together 120 selected guests from politics, business, academia and civil society. Considerate Hoteliers Partner Xenia zu Hohenlohe is on the board of the Langdenburg Forum for Sustainability.
The opening speech: What kind of world will we leave for our grandchildren? How cities will shape and will be shaped by urban societies! will be delivered by the keynote speaker Kofi Annan, 7th Secretary-General of the United Nations and Winner of the 2001 Nobel Peace Prize
According to the United Nations, megacities and metropolitan regions have benefited strongly from globalisation. The accompanying population growth, economic growth, and ecological degradation means that managing urban centres has become one of the most pressing issues of the 21st century.
The focal point of 2017 Langenburg Forum is the role digital technologies play in innovating the areas of transportation and urban planning. A special panel will highlight regional expertise concerning the relationship between Stuttgart and the Ländle as a metropolitan area.
The Langenburg Forum for Sustainability provides a space for interaction and debate through conferences and at round table meetings. At Langenburg, such questions as how to reconcile economic prosperity with the limitations of natural resources and how to ultimately implement the transition to a sustainable future are addressed.
