The Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington recently donated £18,000 to St Mary Abbotts Rehabilitation and Training (SMART), after employees fundraised for 18 months. The donation is to go towards the continuous running of the projects on offer at SMART from floristry, gardening, stop smoking services and IT.
Since 1985 SMART has been working closely with the providers of statutory services, such as local community mental health teams and day services to develop a more holistic approach to support people with mental health needs. The charity recognises the importance of meaningful activity and training as a way to rebuild lives, giving people purpose, confidence and skills.
Through internal fundraising since February 2017, each department at the Royal Garden Hotel has contributed generously towards the total amount raised for the registered charity by hosting several events including raffles, auctions, drinks and food sales. In total the hotel has raised £27,800 for SMART.
While working in partnership with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea the five-star hotel, located on Kensington High Street, has built a close relationship with SMART, supporting the charity’s aim of relieving persons who are suffering from any form of mental illness.
Steve Munkley, Executive Chef at the Royal Garden Hotel, comments: “SMART is a fantastic organisation that enables individuals to rebuild their lives through tailored programmes and amazing support services. We are honoured to be able to contribute this donation towards the everyday running of SMART and hope that our friendship continues to grow.”
Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington is to carry on their fundraising achievements, by working alongside the Kensington and Chelsea Foundation to support more charities in the coming year.
