World Water Day is a UN designated annual event designed to highlight the importance of fresh water and inspire action to make a difference to improve access and management of water resources worldwide.
Today we reflect on the fact that over 1 billion people around the world do not have access to clean and safe drinking water, and 2.1 billion people lack access to safely managed drinking water services.
The theme of World Water Day 2019 is ‘Leaving no one behind’ – inspired by the core idea of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to ensure that everyone benefits from sustainable development. SDG 6 of the Sustainable Development Goals focuses on water – aiming to ‘ensure access to water and sanitation for all’.
That’s why our Considerate partners Vero Water are also proud partners of Whole World Water. whose mission is to bring clean and safe drinking water to everyone, everywhere by 2030.
Water scarcity is becoming more of an issue worldwide due to the growing impact of climate change. As individuals and businesses we should be aware of our water consumption. Simple changes can add up to have a significant impact – saving money as well as resources.
Beyond providing access to clean and safe water, it is imperative that we all do our part to help protect the environment from the impact of single-use plastic waste. Annual consumption of plastic bottles is estimated to exceed 1 trillion by 2021, polluting our oceans, coastlines and harming marine life. Vero Water is leading the way in eliminating plastic waste and promoting sustainability in the restaurant/hotel/tourism industry.
In 2018 Vero Water clients eliminated over 25 million single use bottles from polluting our environment.
