WRAP is delighted to welcome the Considerate Group as the latest organisation to commit to the Food Waste Reduction Roadmap. As part of this commitment WRAP will support the Considerate Group and its members in driving down costs by reducing food waste.
The Roadmap builds on the findings of the joint WRAP/ World Resources Institute (WRI) Report which demonstrates how reducing food waste in hotels can be a significant financial opportunity to reduce costs, increase revenues, and engage staff and customers. The report found hotels saved £7 for every £1 invested in reducing food waste, which can very quickly add up into quite a saving across individual sites, and multiple operations.
Through the Roadmap, businesses commit to Target, Measure, Act on food waste by setting their own food waste reduction target, measuring against this target in a consistent way and taking action to reduce food waste in their own operations, through their supply chain and from customers.
There is no cost to join the Roadmap and WRAP has developed a range of free resources to help you ‘Target, Measure and Act’ on food waste.
WRAP’s Guardians of Grub campaign inspires action at every level of the hospitality and food service profession; from kitchen porter to business owner and across preparation and service. The theme of guardians helps stress the enormous environmental impact wasted food has on the planet, and makes the point that everyone has the power to defeat waste within their work.
To play your part and join the increasing number of hospitality and food service sector businesses committing to the Roadmap please e-mail FoodWasteRoadmap@wrap.org.uk and one of WRAP’s Business Engagement Specialists will contact you.
